...or a third pitching scenario

BOSTON -- We detailed two possible moves the Phillies could make with their rotation in an earlier post. Well, pitching coach Rich Dubee has a third solution:

Roy Halladay will indeed pitch Tuesday in New York against Yankees ace CC Sabathia. But the Phillies will not skip Kyle Kendrick. Instead, he will pitch Wednesday.

This way, Dubee said, Halladay will get six starts before the All-Star break as opposed to five. He gets to start the opener against the Yankees and then pitch against the first-place Minnesota Twins.

That means, if all goes according to plan (which it never does), Halladay's next six starts will be:

Tuesday @ NYY
June 20 vs. MIN
June 26 vs. TOR (six days rest)
July 1 @ PIT
July 6 vs. ATL
July 11 vs. CIN

If it plays out like this, the move also ensures Halladay will not be on the National League roster for the All-Star game in Anaheim. Major League Baseball instituted a new rule this season that starters who pitch on the final day before the break will be replaced on the roster.

ROLLINS REHAB PUSHED BACK

Shortstop Jimmy Rollins (strained right calf) was scheduled to begin his rehab for single-A Clearwater on Monday. He now will not play until Tuesday, a team official said Friday.

Rollins figures to require more than the one rehab game he played last time he was on the disabled list.
