It looks like Run-DMC will be performing on June 5 at the Festival Pier (Columbus & Spring Garden) backed by Philly hip-hop heroes The Roots as part of the Roots Picnic. At least that's what Roots drummer Questlove was hinting in a video he posted online Monday night when he spoke of a reunion of a legendary hip-hop group and then donned a big gold chain and a fedora and took the classic Run-DMC arms-crossed stance. Rev. Joseph "Run" Simmons and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels haven't performed together since murder of the group's DJ Jam Master Jay in 2002. We asked Run-DMC's manager earlier if they are playing the Roots Picnic but have yet to hear back. The show also features the Roots, obviously, as well as Vampire Weekend, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Pattern is Movement, the Clipse, and Mayer Hawthorne & the Country among other acts. The Roots, who can be seen weekdays on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," backed Public Enemy who performed their album "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" at last year's show. Tix are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday online, at Festival Pier, Live Nation's box office (111 Presidential) in Bala Cynwyd or by calling 800-745-3000.

UPDATE: At 1:37 a.m. Wednesday we got a reply from Run-DMC manager Erik Blam. "Not true,' he says. Hmmmm.
