RUSHING OFFENSE

Darren Sproles' 49-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the second half gave the Eagles a much-needed momentum swing. With the exception of that one play, though, the yards were hard to come by. Sproles and LeSean McCoy averaged just 3.2 yards per carry on their other 31 carries.

Grade: C-plus

PASSING OFFENSE

For much of the first half, Nick Foles resembled the guy who struggled so badly in that first Dallas game last year. He had three first-half turnovers, including two fumbles, and completed just 12 of 24 passes. But he played much better in the second half, completing 15 of 21 passes, throwing two touchdown passes and averaging 8.7 yards per attempt. Foles was sacked five times.

Grade: C

RUN DEFENSE

The Eagles, who finished fourth in the league in yards allowed per carry last season, kept the Jaguars' ground game in check most of the day. They held their No. 1 running back, Toby Gerhart, to 42 yards on 18 carries and the Jags as a team to 2.6 yards per carry.

Grade: A

PASS DEFENSE

Chad Henne to Allen Hurns shouldn't be a feared passing combination. But early in the game, the two gave the Eagles fits. Henne hit Hurns, an undrafted rookie, for two first-quarter touchdowns and a 46-yard completion that set up a field goal. They shut him down after that, though, holding him to 2.5 yards per attempt the rest of the game.

Grade: C

SPECIAL TEAMS

Cody Parkey had an impressive debut, hitting two field goals, including a 51-yarder, and getting touchbacks on five of his seven kickoffs. Brandon Bair had a field-goal block and punt returner Darren Sproles had a pair of 22-yard returns.

Grade: A

OVERALL

The early coverage breakdowns by the secondary were disconcerting, as was Nick Foles' deer-in-headlights first half. The injuries to Evan Mathis and Allen Barbre could have been devastating, but David Molk and Andrew Gardner stepped in and played well as the Eagles came back from a 17-0 halftime deficit.

Grade: C
