Vetri's next restaurant

He's going around the corner from Vetri with a Roman trattoria.

Exclusive:

For his next restaurant, Marc Vetri is going around the corner from his flagship Vetri.

The chef signed the lease yesterday for Amìs -- say it "ah-MEES" -- a Roman trattoria serving "simple, rustic food," at 13th and Waverly Streets in Washington Square West. (That's the corner storefront that Michael O'Halloran of Bistro 7 was going to develop into his second restaurant; after a tiff with the landlord during construction, he moved on and is now opening Kong in Northern Liberties next month.)

Vetri says Brad Spencer will swing over from Vetri to be chef at Amís.

Opening is penciled in for the winter.

(Amìs is dialect for "friends" in Lombardy, where Vetri studied in Italy.)

Vetri also is a partner in Osteria on North Broad.
