The Philadelphia restaurant community is banding together to help their counterparts in flood-stricken Texas and Louisiana.
Chef Eli Kulp (Fork, High Street on Market, a.kitchen) says he's been riveted by the devastation.
He got on the line earlier today to list local chefs in a grass-roots effort to designate one dish on the menu whose proceeds will go to a to-be-named charity.
He and business partner Ellen Yin are backing the effort at their restaurants in Philadelphia and New York. Chefs on board so far include Greg Vernick at Vernick, Nick Elmi at ITV, Chris Kearse at Will BYOB, and Jose Garces.
Meanwhile, he's urging restaurants to use the hashtag #chefs4houston on Twitter and Instagram.

Also aiding the effort is Mac Mart (104 S. 18th St.), which is donating 50 percent of proceeds from its Cowboy Cup and Cowgirl Cup mac-and-cheese bowls (see below) to a charity to be named.
