Chris Christie reminisces about Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born to Run’ for album’s 40th anniversary

Even though he apparently likes Bon Jovi more than Bruce Springsteen, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is still choked up about The Boss' Born to Run, which came out 40 years ago today.
"It is my desert island disc," Christie wrote in a missive posted to Twitter Tuesday afternoon. "It is the most powerful rock album of my lifetime."
Springsteen's Born to Run dropped Aug. 25, 1975, spawning legendary tracks like "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out," "Jungleland," "Thunder Road," and, of course, "Born to Run." It serves as The Boss' third full-length release.
In his writeup, Christie recalls being a 12-year-old Jersey kid when the album came out, giving him his first taste of "a bearded New Jersey twenty something with a big, burly sax player," meaning the inimitable Clarence Clemons. Since then, he says he's attended more than 130 Springsteen concerts.
Last month, however, Christie claimed to enjoy the music of Bon Jovi more than Springsteen's. Previously, frontman Jon Bon Jovi granted Christie permission to use his group's songs at campaign events.
