Levittown packaging plant to close
Graham Packaging Co. of York said it is closing its Levittown manufacturing plant and laying off its 45 employees.
Graham Packaging Co. of York said it is closing its Levittown manufacturing plant and laying off its 45 employees.
The company said the shutdown is a result of declining business in the motor-oil industry, for which Graham makes packaging. The decline has left the company with too much manufacturing capacity, it said.
The plant will close on July 20, with the layoffs occurring over the following 10 days, Graham said. It also said workers can seek jobs at other Graham plants.
The company, which has 87 plants and 8,700 employees worldwide, makes packaging for food, beverage, personal care and household products and automotive lubricants.
