A federal court in Boston ruled that a patent for a catheter used in hemodialysis held by Limerick-based Teleflex Inc. is invalid because it did not advance the technology.
A federal court in Boston ruled that a patent for a catheter used in hemodialysis held by Limerick-based Teleflex Inc. is invalid because it did not advance the technology.
The July 10 ruling, by U.S. District Judge Douglas Woodlock, means that Teleflex's Arrow International unit lost the patent-infringement lawsuit it had filed against Spire Corp. of Bedford, Mass.
No one at Teleflex was immediately available for comment. The catheters are used during hemodialysis, a process that filters blood in people with problem kidneys.
