Ardmore's Benj Pasek wins Golden Globe for Best Song
"City of Stars" from La La Land won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song on Sunday. Cowritten by Ardmore native Benj Pasek — who penned the lyrics with writing partner Justin Paul — it beat out Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling!" from Trolls, Ariana Grande and Stevie Wonder's "Faith" from Sing, Iggy Pop's "Gold" from Gold, and Lin-Manuel Miranda's "How Far I'll Go" from Moana.

It’s a good year for Pasek. He also has a well-reviewed show on Broadway, Dear Evan Hansen, based on a troubled kid Pasek knew of in high school. Toby Zinman called the show "heartrending and gorgeous."
"We never thought we'd be a part of an original movie musical," Pasek said on stage in Los Angeles while accepting the award. "This is for musical theater nerds everywhere."
