Police on Friday arrested a man accused of shooting his brother to death in a Northeast Philadelphia apartment.
William Shields, 33, was charged with murder and possession of an instrument of crime, police said.
Police said Shields shot his brother, James Stevens, 50, in Stevens' apartment on the 3100 block of Woodhaven Road on Thursday night.
About 10:50 p.m., officers had responded to a radio call of a "person with a gun" inside the apartment.
They found Stevens suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Stevens was taken by medics to Aria Health's Torresdale campus, where he was pronounced dead about 1:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
Police said the investigation revealed that the brothers had been arguing when Shields allegedly got a shotgun and fired once into his brother's chest. Shields waited for police to arrive and was arrested without incident, police said.
