Ogontz crash leaves pedestrian pinned between parked vehicles

A crash on North Broad Street, near Champlost Avenue, in Ogontz left a pedestrian pinned between two vehicles.

A pedestrian was hospitalized early Saturday after a crash left him pinned between two parked vehicles in Ogontz.

The incident touched off about 4:30 a.m., when a 2011 Mercedes traveling north on North Broad Street, near Champlost Avenue, struck a 2001 Toyota Camry exiting a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot, police said.

The Mercedes continued north after the impact, slamming into an unoccupied pickup truck parked along the right curb.

A man, 63, was standing in front of the parked truck and became pinned between the truck and a parked sedan, police said.

Medics rushed him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was treated for two broken legs and placed in stable condition. The Toyota driver was also taken to Einstein for complaints of chest pain, police said. The driver of the Mercedes was not injured.

No charges had yet been filed in connection with the crash Saturday afternoon. An investigation remained ongoing with the Philadelphia police Accident Investigation Division.
