Man slain in Phila.; two others ID’d

An unidentified man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the 4200 block of Penn Street, the most recent victim in a rash of fatal shootings in the city, police said.

An unidentified man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the 4200 block of Penn Street, the most recent victim in a rash of fatal shootings in the city, police said.

The name of the victim, who police said was about 25 and was found dead in the street about 3 p.m., was being withheld pending notification of family members.

Meanwhile, police Saturday identified Anthony Pedroza, 32, of the 2800 block of North Fifth Street, as being the person killed in front of his house late Friday.

They said Pedroza was quarreling on the street with a woman when a minivan approached. A man got out of the van, confronted Pedroza, and shot him in the head and chest.

Police also identified John Allen Berry Jr., 24, of the 500 block of Rosalie Street, as the man who was fatally shot while driving in the 3700 block of Germantown Avenue about 2:15 a.m. Friday.
