A Marlton man accused of suffocating his wife with a pillow was indicted on a murder charge yesterday by a Burlington County grand jury, authorities said.
Authorities said Kirk K. Krawiec, 46, had told investigators that he smothered his wife Theresa, 47, on Aug. 8 because he wanted to spare her distress over their failing home-based consulting business. He miscalculated, said Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi: Their business, K&M Logistics, wasn't failing.
Police found Theresa Krawiec on the bed in the master bedroom with her arms crossed over her chest. Her husband had placed a Mass card in her hands and pulled a sheet over her head. The couple's three children - ages 21, 19 and 17 - were at home at the time of the slaying, said Jack Smith, spokesman for Bernardi.
Krawiec was in the Burlington County Detention Center last night after failing to post $500,000 bail. - Sam Wood
