Gun violence in Philadelphia claimed four lives Sunday in four separate shootings that had not yet led to any arrests, police said.

Gun violence in Philadelphia claimed four lives Sunday in four separate shootings that had not yet led to any arrests, police said.

The first shooting was late Saturday in South Philadelphia. Officers responding to the 2000 block of South 22d Street about 11 p.m. found Maurice Acey, 39, of West Philadelphia, lying wounded on the sidewalk. He had been shot in the right side of the chest, police said.

Acey was pronounced dead at 5:58 a.m. Sunday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

By then, investigators had been working for several hours on a shooting in North Philadelphia, police said. Officers responded at 12:59 a.m. to the 1300 block of North 21st Street, where they found a 54-year-old man with a single bullet wound to the stomach, back, and right thigh. He died at 2:58 a.m. at Hahnemann University Hospital, police said, adding that they did not expect to release his identity until Monday.

The third shooting, also in North Philadelphia, was at the playground at 27th and Clearfield Streets, where two men were shot, police said. At 11:50 a.m., officers found one victim, 25, lying on a basketball court with bullet wounds to the chest and side. He was pronounced dead at 6:07 p.m. at Temple University Hospital, police said.

The second victim, 19, was found in a playing field with a gunshot wound to his left leg. He was in serious condition at Temple, said police, who did not release the victims' identities.

In that shooting, police said they were looking for a black man in his 20s standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing 150 pounds, who wore a red hooded sweatshirt and fled south on 27th Street in a burgundy Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

The fourth shooting took place about 8:40 p.m. Sunday in the city's Queen Village section, police said. Police responded to the 900 block of South Fourth Street, where they found a 25-year-old male with gunshot wounds in the chest, an arm, and a hip. He was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, police said.
