DELAWARE COUNTY

Youth mental health training set

MORTONDelaware County residents can soon learn a different type of first aid - how to help youth in an emotional, mental health, or addiction crisis.

The Delaware County Intermediate Unit will offer a five-day instructor training seminar on youth mental health first aid from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1-5 at 200 Yale Ave., Morton.

The course is open to all but is designed for teachers, coaches, those who lead faith communities, and youth group leaders, according to Shannon Thomas, coordinator of children's mental health for the county.

The course will cover common mental health challenges for those between ages 12 and 18, typical adolescent development, and provide a five-step plan for helping youth in crisis and non-crisis situations.

For more information, contact Thomas at the County Office of Behavioral Health, 610-713-2479.
