3 Northampton students are treated for MRSA
NORTHAMPTON, Pa. - An eastern Pennsylvania high school is dealing with an outbreak of methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus
, or MRSA.
Three students at Northampton Area High School have the skin infection, which can be fatal if not treated. They are getting medical care, said Superintendent Linda Firestone, who sent a letter to parents Wednesday urging good hygiene practices to prevent spreading the infection.
Last month in Philadelphia, Saalen Jones, 17, a Martin Luther King High School football player, died of MRSA.
