Authorities are looking for two men captured on surveillance video leaving the scene of a Camden shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old Friday night.
Officers responded to the Northgate I Apartments near Seventh and Linden streets shortly before 11:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
They found shooting victim Johnathan Simmons, 19, lying in the rear lot of the building. Simmons was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, where he died about 11:45 p.m.
Two men fled the scene south on North Sixth Street, police said. Surveillance cameras captured them running through the Delaware River Port Authority Tunnel beneath the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. They then continued on to Penn Street near Rutgers University-Camden, according to investigators.
Authorities described the men, who are considered persons of interest in the slaying, as two black males, one of them wearing a lightweight striped Hollister hooded sweatshirt, light-colored shorts, and a light-colored "boonie" hat; the second wearing a black Nike shirt, light-colored pants, and a dark baseball cap.
