High & Inside: Dutch on the radio

SUMMER NIGHTS on ESPN 97.5-FM are getting metaphysical. Yesterday, the radio station announced a new show called "Talkin' Baseball with Dutch," hosted by former Phillies catcher Darren Daulton. The 1-hour show, which will air on weeknights throughout the season, debuts Monday at 6 p.m.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to work with 97.5 The Fanatic," said Daulton, who will be joined by ESPN afternoon guy Mike Missanelli and John Marks. "I am looking forward to sharing a summer of fun with Philadelphia . . . I can't wait to come back to my adopted hometown and take another amazing ride with this team and these fans."

Remember it was Daulton who was laughed out of town following the release of his book, "If They Only Knew," which explores other dimensions and warns of an apocalypse in 2012.

Daulton resurfaced last year when he auctioned off some of his memorabilia, most notably his Florida Marlins World Series ring. Since then, he has made various appearances and even hosted a celebrity dart night as part of his "comeback."

We know Dutch knows baseball, but we really want to know if his contract runs through 2012.

Dragon finalist for award

Katrina Gaudier, a senior softball pitcher at Drexel, is one of eight female finalists for the 2010 Arthur Ashe sports scholar award, given to students who excel in both the classroom and the field of play. Gaudier is an English major boasting a 3.77 GPA. She also ranks within the top-5 all-time in victories in addition to hurling the 15th no-hitter in program history last season.

Surprising even themselves

Red Bull New York is the quintessential example of "turning a 180." NYRB finished with the worst record in MLS last season but holds the league's second-best mark six games into the 2010 season.

"I just can't get over the fact that we're 5-1," Red Bull defender Mike Petke told the Record of Bergen County (N.J.) this week.

Yeah, neither can Union fans.
