Statue honoring Kalas to be unveiled Aug. 14

A group of Phillies fans have long lobbied for a statue of Harry Kalas to grace Citizens Bank Park, and that dream is scheduled to become reality on Aug. 14.

A group of Phillies fans have long lobbied for a statue of Harry Kalas to grace Citizens Bank Park, and that dream is scheduled to become reality on Aug. 14.

The Phillies are set to unveil the gifted statue, sculpted by Lawrence J. Nowlan and funded by public donations, in a ceremony before that day's Phillies-Nationals game. The team said members of the Kalas family and more than two dozen Phillies alumni - already in town for the annual alumni weekend - will attend.

The 71/2-foot bronze statue of the Hall of Fame broadcaster will be located on the main concourse behind Section 141, near Harry the K's restaurant.
