The making of a Puerto Rican Day Parade float

Ahead of the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sept. 28, Alba Martinez, the director of “La Guagua 47,” held a workshop to design and build a parade float. To make the float come to life, community members gathered at Taller Puertorriqueño on Saturday, Sept. 27, making paper flowers, talking, painting, and more. The float features two 12-foot mobile murals painted by muralist Cesar Viveros and other local artists, with help from more than 100 community members.
