Jilly is coming home to North Philly.

Philadelphia singer- songwriter poet and actress Jill Scott released To Whom This May Concern, her first album in over a decade, in February. Now, she is headed out on a concert trek that will bring her to her hometown three nights this summer.

The To Whom This May Concern World Tour kicks of at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on June 4 and will play the Met Philly on July 24, 25, and 27.

The 36-show tour will also include eight shows in Europe and two in South Africa, where Scott is a major star in part because of her starring role in the 2008 HBO series No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.

The shows are billed as “residency style performances, placing live band instrumentation at the heart of the experience” and “uniquely curated shows designed to create deep, immersive connections between artist and audience.”

In Philadelphia, that likely means special appearances from Scott’s friends and musical associates who she has collaborated with throughout a quarter-century career. She made her debut with 2000’s Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds, Vol. 1.

Philly music makers that contributed to To Whom This May Concern include songwriter-producer Andre Harris, bassist and bandleader Adam Blackstone, and rapper Tierra Whack, who teams with her on “Norf Side,” a song the duo debuted at the Roots Picnic in 2024.

“Creating unique experiences for people in every city is incredibly important to me,” Scott said in a statement announcing the tour. “Music is a conversation, and the stage is where we come together to share truth, joy, and the beauty of being alive.”

In February, Scott made her first appearance on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series, and this month she shared her version of a perfect day in Philadelphia with The Inquirer., including stops at Ishkabibble’s and the Noah Davis show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
