Man sitting in car in Philly shot to death, police say

Police were investigating a homicide that occurred in the 7500 block of Forrest Avenue in East Mount Airy on Sunday night.

Police Sgt. Eric Gripp said a 39-year-old man was sitting in a car when he was shot multiple times around his body.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, shortly before 6 p.m., before medics took him to Einstein Medical Center.

No weapon was recovered, and no arrests were made, Gripp said. No other details were released.
