An armed man has barricaded himself inside a SEPTA bus in Fox Chase.

When the driver of a SEPTA 18 bus pulled into the Fox Chase Loop to drop off their last passenger around 5 a.m. Monday morning, a male passenger on board refused to leave and told the driver to call the police, said a SEPTA spokesperson.

The driver called for assistance, and when the Philadelphia Police Department arrived, the man pulled out a gun. The SEPTA bus driver was able to leave the bus safely, but the armed male passenger is still barricaded inside the bus. A SEPTA spokesperson said police and the man were at a “standstill.”

Police have shut down surrounding streets, and SEPTA trains and buses are currently detouring away from the Fox Chase Loop transit hub.
