A Warrington man has been charged with causing a six-vehicle crash in Northeast Philadelphia that left two people dead, police said Tuesday.

Shekhroz Mamaatkulov, 25, was charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle and related offenses for the April 21 chain-reaction accident at Bustleton Avenue and Red Lion Road that killed Carmen Montalvo Ruiz, 48, and Juan A. Lopez Rivera, 50, both of the 5100 block of Whitaker Avenue.

Police said Mamaatkulov was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro on Bustleton just before midnight when the vehicle hit a Lexus that was stopped at a red light at Red Lion Road. The Camaro continued moving into the intersection and struck a Mitsubishi Endeavor, which flipped over and crashed into a Toyota Sienna. The Sienna then hit a sixth car.

Mamaatkulov allegedly got out of the Camaro and fled in another vehicle. Five other people were taken to the hospital with injuries.
