Fox 29's Quincy Harris, host of The Q, will no longer be leading a talk with the Philadelphia-born comedian, as was previously announced. Organizers say they reconfigured the event to a photo-op format due to popular demand.
The event will still take place at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 7. Due to the changes to the event, tickets are now cheaper, at $27 each, and include a copy of Hart's book, I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons. Ticket sales begin at noon Friday on the library's website.
According to an event posting, those who purchased passes to the previously announced Temple University event will receive a refund. Passes to the new event must be purchased separately.
Attendees may begin lining up for the event at 4 p.m. on June 7, after which they will get to have a quick meeting with Hart, where they can have a photo taken and get their copy of I Can't Make This Up signed. Fans can retrieve their photos at KevinHartBook.Photos, but may not use other digital or cellphone cameras during the event.
A native of North Philadelphia, Hart, 37, came up near 15th and Erie and went to George Washington High School. He later attended Temple University and the Community College of Philadelphia, and performed stand-up at South Street's Laff House.
Hart last year was named the highest-paid comedian in in the business, topping comedy legends like Jerry Seinfeld thanks to some $87.5 million in earnings between June 2015 and 2016, Forbes reports. Hart has shared the wealth with his hometown, donating $250,000 to the Philadelphia School District in 2013, followed by the establishment of four $50,000 scholarships for Philadelphia high school students in 2015.
Philadelphia paid that kindness back earlier this year with the establishment of July 6 as "Kevin Hart Day" in the city, making the comedian's birthday an official holiday. Last year, the state of California gave Hart his own day, on Feb. 22.
Hart's latest project, Untouchable, a remake he's doing alongside Bryan Cranston, recently wrapped filming here in Philadelphia. According to IMDB, that film is scheduled for a 2018 release date.
I Can't Make This Up will be released on June 6.
