Philly Love Notes founder offers Black Friday deal to help local nonprofits

Black Friday is typically about finding the best deal you can for yourself, but thanks to one local maker, you can get a bargain and help some Philly area nonprofits in the process.

Black Friday is typically about finding the best deal you can, but thanks to one local maker, you can get a bargain and help some Philly area nonprofits in the process.

You probably remember Emma Fried-Cassorla as the woman behind Philly Love Notes, a blog focused praising our fair city. With Philly Love Notes retired, Fried-Cassorla has turned her attention to creating wood and glass maps of Philadelphia.

Fried-Cassorla now sells her maps through Etsy, where they run $50 and up. And now through Tuesday, Nov. 29, she'll be donating all her profits from the map sales to several Philly nonprofits.

Recipients include The Sunday Breakfast Mission, Fairmount Park Conservancy, the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, the Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, the Black Star Film Festival, the People's Emergency Center, and the Asian Arts Initiative.

"Now more than ever, I feel a need to give back to my community," Fried-Cassorla wrote of the donations on her blog. "It's an opportunity to buy a holiday gift and give back to some great Philadelphia non-profits."
