Late singer and New Jersey native Christina Grimmie would have turned 23 on Sunday. The former Voice contestant's family commemorated with a touching video tribute.
"We created this video as a special tribute to honor that love and her desire to always bring light and love into the heart of others," a message posted along with the video reads.
Grimmie's brother, Marcus Grimmie, also posted about the video on Instagram, writing, "I know you would love this sis." In a second post, Marcus wrote that he "beat Zelda for [Grimmie] at 12 o'clock this morning."
This weekend marked Grimmie's first birthday since she was killed in a shooting at the Plaza Live theater in Orlando, Fla. in June 2016. She was signing autographs in a meet-and-greet with fans at the time before being fatally shot by Kevin Loibl, 27, who also killed himself during the attack.
"This is yet another senseless act of extreme violence," Levine wrote at the time. "I am left stunned and confused how these things can conceivably continue to happen in our world."
