Kevin Hart to discuss new book at Temple University speaking date

Philadelphia-born comedian Kevin Hart will return to his hometown this summer for a speaking date at Temple University in support of his upcoming book, I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons.

Hart will discuss the book June 7 in Lew Klein Hall at the Temple Performing Arts Center on Temple University's main campus. Fox 29's Quincy Harris, host of The Q, will lead the talk.

Tickets go on sale May 5 at 10 a.m. on the Free Library of Philadelphia website. Passes will run between $40 and $55, and will include a signed copy of Hart's book. I Can't Make This Up will be available in stores and online starting June 6.

A Philadelphia native, Hart, 37, was grew up near 15th and Erie and attended George Washington High School. He later attended the Community College of Philadelphia and Temple University, and regularly performed at the Laff House on South Street.

Since his time coming up in Philly, Hart has become one of the biggest acts in comedy. In fact, the Philly native last year was named the highest-paid comedian in entertainment, beating out legends like Jerry Seinfeld with an estimated $87.5 million made between June 2015 and 2016, according to Forbes.

Hart has shared some of that financial success with his hometown through high-profile donations to the Philadelphia School District. In 2013, Hart donated $250,000 to the district for new computers (four were later stolen), and created four $50,000 scholarships for Philadelphia high school students in 2015.

Most recently, Philadelphia named July 6 "Kevin Hart Day" in the city, marking the comedians birthday as an official holiday. The state of California gave Hart his own day last year, proclaiming Feb. 22 as their own "Kevin Hart Day."

Untouchable, a film starring Hart and Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, recently wrapped shooting in Philadelphia. The film is currently set for a 2018 release date, according to IMDB.
