West Philadelphia music venue The Blockley is closing its doors after 4 years of catering to the college bar scene and music lovers alike.
The staff of the Blockley writes the following:
We lost our liquor license, without much notice. We've been negotiating it, but at this point we're forced to move the license out of the building at year's end. The news has blindsided our staff & family here, and it derails an experience and a community that we have been so very excited to see grow and flourish here.
The Blockley made headlines in November of 2011 during a late night bust, where over 40 minors were being served alcohol. They reopened shortly after.
The Blockley has played host to musical talent such as Talib Kweli, Shuggie Otis, J Davey, Ghostface Killah, and Toots & The Maytals.
The venue will stay open until the end of the month.
