‘Wheel of Fortune’ focuses on Philadelphia with ‘Great American Cities’ week

For the week of May 16, Philadelphia will be the focus on ABC's Wheel of Fortune, thanks to a newly launched concept honoring "Great American Cities" on the program.

To accomplish the task, Wheel recruited 15 contestants from the Philadelphia area, as well as constructed a Philly-themed set in their California studio. Additionally, the show plans to feature Philly-shot segments starring host Pat Sajak and Vanna White, who visited the city last fall.

For added authenticity, the show will all week play host to an audience filled with Philadelphia-area folks courtesy of a sweepstakes held jointly with 6abc earlier this year. Prizes will also be sourced from local Philadelphia-area businesses.

Confirmed contestants for Wheel's Philadelphia-themed week include Moore College of Art and Design assistant dean of Students Emily Johnson, University of Delaware senior Rebecca Kline, firefighter Tony Hood, and Wharton School of Business career manager Jamie Hendel, among others.

In addition to honoring Philly as part of its "Great American Cities" campaign, the program also has also devoted weeks to Denver and Seattle.

Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on 6abc. The show's Philadelphia-themed week will take place Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20.
