For the second time this election season, GOP leaders decided not to endorse at-large Councilman Frank Rizzo. Rizzo had hoped to get the endorsement after John Giordano, who had been one of five candidates endorsed by Republican City Committee, dropped out of the race.
But after some ward leaders met last night, they decided they could not give Rizzo their seal of approval because of his participation in the city's controversial Deferred Retirement Option Plan, said Al Taubenberger, who is also running for an at-large spot.
Rizzo has long been one of the party's biggest vote-getters.
