One person was killed in an overnight blaze in Pottstown.
One person was killed in an overnight blaze in Pottstown.
The blaze broke out in an apartment building on the 400 block of East High Street at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Pottstown Fire Chief Richard Lengel told reporters that one person was found dead in a bedroom.
The other residents were able to self-evacuate and crews placed the fire under control fairly quickly, he said.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the deadly fire remains under investigation.
The Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania said it was assisting 19 people affected by the blaze.
