Hiding behind sunglasses, Ronald McDonald made a public appearance Friday at the Art Musuem surrounded by about dozen police officer.

It's not what you think.

As you might recall, McDonald's announced earlier this week that Ronald would keeping a low profile because of the creepy clown panic inexplicably gripping the country.

But the cops weren't there to protect him. They were there to celebrate him in a way.

Friday was the Show Your Stripes fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House and the Police Department, as it has in past years, was part of the effort, giving officers a dispensation to wear red and white-striped ties and socks for the day.

Last year, officers contributed more than $25,000 to the program that offers shelter to children in town for medical treatment and their families.
