A vigil calling for an end to police violence took place at City Hall on Friday.

The 5 p.m. event was organized by a group called Together We Stand, which says it advocates for victims of police brutality, racism and violence.

The vigil followed several other vigils, protests, marches and demonstrations that have taken place in Philadelphia over the past week in response to the police shooting deaths of black men.

Together We Stand planned a nationwide series of vigils Friday, including events in Charlotte, Indianapolis, Chicago, Minneapolis and Cleveland, among other cities.
