Boyz II Men Boulevard? Council to vote May 18

It's not the end of the road for legendary R&B group Boyz II Men.

In fact,  it's the beginning of a new one.

On Thursday morning, City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson introduced a resolution that proposed honoring the group's achievements  in artistry and philanthropy by naming Broad Street from Christian to Carpenter, "Boyz II Men Boulevard."

The group  includes Philly natives Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanya Morris. The three used to perform at talent shows as students at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts which stands on that stretch of Broad Street, before becoming the best-selling R&B group of all time.

Hit songs like "MotownPhilly," "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday," "I'll Make Love  to You," "One Sweet Day" and "End of the Road" solidified their spot at the top.

The resolution includes their Boyz II Men House charity and was supported by all members of Council. An official vote will occur Thursday, May 18.

Boyz II Men will be performing at the Wells Fargo Center on Sat., June 24 and the dedication will take place during the day. The City of Philadelphia will also officially be honoring the group as part of Welcome America at the "Celebration of Freedom Ceremony" on July 4th at Independence Hall.
