Traffic is restricted this week on Route 100 in West Whiteland, West Goshen and East Goshen Townships, Chester County, and southbound Route 100 will be closed next weekend as construction moves forward to improve nearly five miles of the highway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
Through tomorrow, northbound and southbound lane closures are scheduled on Route 100 between the Route 30 Bypass and Pottstown Pike in West Whiteland Township from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Today after 10 p.m., crews will change the lane closure on the northbound side of the Route 100 spur from the right lane to the left lane.
From 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, southbound Route 100 will be closed between the Route 30 Bypass and Route 202. A posted detour will take southbound Route 100 motorists east on the Route 30 Bypass to the Business Route 30 exit and then onto the ramp to Route 202 south.
In addition, High Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction under the Route 202 overpass in West Goshen Township for overhead bridge work from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
These operations are part of PennDOT's $9,931,562 project to rehabilitate and resurface 4.8 miles of Route 100 between the Route 202 and Route 30 interchanges. The project began in July 2008 and is scheduled to finish in July 2009.
Weeknight lane closures and weekend shutdowns of one side of Route 100 will occur over the next month for the replacement of old concrete pavement under the Amtrak and Norfolk Southern railroad bridges.
