Metro conducting Memorial Day weekend work

Metro says it will be conducting track work on the red and orange lines over the Memorial Day holiday and closing a number of stations on both lines.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro says it will be conducting track work on the red and orange lines over the Memorial Day holiday and closing a number of stations on both lines.

Beginning Friday and continuing through Monday, free shuttle buses will replace orange line trains between Vienna and Ballston. Four stations, Vienna, Dunn Loring, West Falls Church and East Falls Church, will be closed.

Metro says travelers using an express bus service should add about 25 minutes to their travel times. Those using the local shuttles should add 40 minutes.

In addition, free shuttle buses will replace red line trains between Shady Grove and Twinbrook. Two stations, Shady Grove and Rockville, will be closed. Metro says riders using the shuttle service should expect to add 10 to 20 minutes to their travel time.
