A 14-month-old Camden boy is in critical condition this afternoon after being stabbed in the head overnight, authorities said.

Police were called about 3 a.m. to the 3200 block of Mount Ephraim Ave. where an argument between the boy's mother and her boyfriend had erupted into violence.

The mother was holding her baby when Ponciano Garcia, 25, lunged at her with a knife, striking the child.

The boy, whose name was not released by police, was rushed to Cooper University Hospital for surgery for the life threatening injury.

Police found Garcia hiding in a neighbor's home. He was being held on $1 million bail after being charged with attempted murder and weapons counts.

Two other people were arrested for hindering Garcia's apprehension.
