KENNETT SQUARE Voting is open to choose America's best restroom, which just might be at Longwood Gardens.

The restroom there was named one of 10 finalists in the 13th annual contest by Cintas Corp., a business services company in Ohio.

Longwood Gardens' domed restroom pods are tucked into a 4,072-square-foot "Green Wall" hallway of more than 47,000 plants. Natural light streams in through skylights.

"One of the things we pride ourselves on is being beautiful and being innovative," said spokeswoman Patricia Evans. "And I think the bathrooms speak to that."

Visitors check out the restrooms "whether they have to go per se or not," Evans said.

Longwood Gardens is competing against restrooms in Pittsburgh, California, Illinois, Florida, Kansas, Texas, Missouri, and Washington. The public can vote at www.bestrestroom.com through Oct. 31.

The winning restroom gets a $2,500 credit to spend on Cintas services, such as cleaning and supplies. The three restrooms with the most votes will receive deep cleaning valued at $500.

Cintas will announce the winner, which will be inducted into its Restroom Hall of Fame, in the fall.
