A 38-year-old man was fatally shot in Camden early Sunday morning, according to police.

Lance E. Jenkins, of Camden, was found on the sidewalk of the 1400 block of Bradley Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound just after 3 a.m., the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said Sunday. Jenkins was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:22 a.m.

Prosecutors labeled the crime a homicide, making it the third killing in Camden in less than a week. Overall the city had recorded 16 homicides through Sunday, up from 9 at this point last year, according to figures from the prosecutor's office.

Last Tuesday, Edwin Davis, 43, was shot dead on the 2500 block of Morgan Boulevard. And 22-year-old Jonathan Vasquez was fatally shot Thursday outside a funeral home where he had been attending a memorial service for his grandmother.

Police have reported arrests in both of those cases, although they were still searching for whoever shot Vasquez.

No arrests had been made in Jenkins' slaying, the prosecutor's office said Sunday. Authorities ask that anyone with information contact Detective Frank Simpson at 856-365-3114.
