Harrisburg - Governor Rendell will be in Philadelphia this morning drumming up support for his plan to provide health coverage for the nearly 800,000 uninsured Pennsylvanians.
The governor will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He will be joined by legislators, physician organizations, community groups and faith leaders.
Rendell submitted his "Cover All Pennsylvanians" legislation to the General Assembly in October. If enacted, it would make individuals eligible to buy state-sponsored health insurance from private insurers for about $280 a month. Premiums would be subsidized for people with low income.
