A Camden man was charged with murder this morning in the double shooting yesterday that left his 16-year-old cousin dead and critically wounded his 68-year-old uncle.
Jose Feliciano, 24, was arraigned this morning and remanded to the Camden County jail after failing to post $750,000 bail.
Feliciano allegedly opened fire on his cousin Ramon Roman and his uncle about 4:30 p.m. yesterday on the 3100 block of Pleasant Street. The motive for the shooting is unclear.
Roman was rushed to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. His uncle, whose name has not been released, was also treated at Cooper.
Feliciano then fired on police who responded to the shooting, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
Officers returned fire, and Feliciano ran into his home on Pleasant Street.
Feliciano, who was not injured, surrendered a short time later.
Authorities said the sequence of events was still under investigation, but that witnesses told police the suspect had been acting strangely before firing a handgun outside his home.
Feliciano has a history of burglary and weapons charges. He was released from jail April 2007, after serving 18 months.
