Authorities have filed a murder charge against a South Jersey man who told police he threw his 3-month-old daughter off a Garden State Parkway Bridge,
Shamsid-Din Abdur-Raheem, of Galloway Township, is being charged with one count of murder even though the baby's body has not been found, officials say.
Abdur-Raheem pleaded not guilty last week to charges related to the abduction of the baby and the attempted murder of her grandmother in East Orange on Feb. 16.
Abdur-Raheem, who was arrested by police at his parents' home in Camden County, told investigators he threw his daughter off the Parkway's Driscoll Bridge over the Raritan River between Sayreville and Woodbridge after taking the child.
Officials have abandoned an organized search for the girl, but police maritime units in the area are on the lookout for her body.
