A 26-year-old woman died tonight when she was hit by an Amtrak train near the Tacony station in Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.

A 26-year-old woman died tonight when she was hit by an Amtrak train near the Tacony station in Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.

Service on Amtrak and SEPTA's R7 line between Philadelphia and Trenton was suspended due to police activity at the location, authorities said. Partial Amtrak service has been restored.

The unidentified woman was struck at 7:56 p.m. by the 656 Keystone train traveling from Harrisburg to New York, said spokeswoman Tracey Connell.

Police said the Amtrak engineer believed the train had struck a person and stopped the train near that location, but no body was immediately found. The woman eventually was located and declared dead by medics at 8:45 p.m.
