A Reading middle school teacher was arrested Friday for allegedly sexually abusing a student, the Berks County District Attorney's Office announced.
Thirty-year-old Jessica Saienni, of Landenberg, Pa., turned herself in around 10 a.m. at the Berks County Detectives Office.
Investigators said Saienni was a science teacher at Southwest Middle School in Reading from June 2012 through August 2012, when she allegedly had an "inappropriate relationship" with the 14-year-old male victim.
Detectives on Thursday obtained a warrant for Saienni's arrest. She was arraigned Friday afternoon and released after posting $50,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.
Saienni is charged with statutory sexual assault, institutional sexual assault, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse involving a person less than 16 years of age, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and intimidating witnesses or victims.
She is next due in court March 12 for a formal arraignment.
