Neglected horses found in N. Phila. stables
Officials yesterday found several neglected horses living in deplorable conditions in North Philadelphia stables.
Officials from the city and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals went to the 2600 block of Fletcher Street in response to an anonymous tip. They said they had found tons of horse manure piled inside the stables, and the rotting carcass of one horse partly buried behind one of the buildings.
One man who said he kept horses there said he and his friends cared for horses properly. When asked about the dead horse, he said he knew nothing about it.
