Amtrak train kills man on track in Crescentville
Amtrak service was halted for an hour yesterday after a train heading from Boston to Washington struck and killed a man in the Crescentville section of Philadelphia.
The accident occurred about 2 p.m. near Comly Street and Newtown Avenue.
Police did not know the identity of the man or why he was on the tracks, and were investigating the case as an apparent suicide, they said.
Limited service was restored after an hour and a half to one northbound and one southbound track.
