Wiring blamed in fire at John Street's house
Electrical wiring has been blamed for a small fire in former Mayor John F. Street's rowhouse in North Philadelphia, officials said yesterday.
No one was injured in the fire late Tuesday on the second floor of the home on the 1400 block of North 13th Street, said Fire Department Executive Chief Daniel Williams. Firefighters saw light smoke when they arrived at 11:17 p.m., Williams said. The fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes.
It was not known whether Street was home at the time. The extent of damage also was not reported.
The fire started in non-permanent electrical wiring in the house, Williams said.
