Police are investigating the shooting death of a 31-year-old man overnight in Camden.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said Jahid Hudson was found on the living room floor of a residence on the 1900 block of South 8th Street early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the area at about 12:20 a.m., after a 911 caller reported a gunshot victim near 8th and Jefferson streets and the police department received a notification from its ShotSpotter gunfire-detection system on the 700 block of Ferry Avenue.

Hudson, of Camden, is believed to have been shot near Ferry Avenue and then ran to an acquaintance's home on 8th Street to seek help after he was wounded, prosecutors said.

He was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m.

Detectives haven't determined a motive for the shooting yet.
