Chestnut Hill named a U.S. 'Great Neighborhood'

Chestnut Hill was named as one of 10 Great Neighborhoods for 2012 by the American Planning Association, which was to make the announcement Wednesday. "Chestnut Hill's eclectic charm comes from its uncommon assemblage of architectural styles and extensive use of indigenous building materials and native plants that blend seamlessly with the rocks, streams, and forests of Wissahickon Valley," said Paul Farmer, the association's chief executive officer. Other neighborhoods that made the list are Fells Point in Baltimore and Beacon Hill in Seattle. Society Hill was named a Great Neighborhood in 2008. - Robert Moran
